Lecture for International Women’s Day Decorative Arts: Definition and Evolution

For International Women's Day, I presented an hour lecture to the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) titled “Decorative Arts: Definition and Evolution” on historic and contemporary definitions of decorative art (otherwise known as the applied arts or material culture) in North America and Europe - highlighting the intrinsic role of women in this field.

The Canadian Federation of Women hosted this lecture on the occasion of their celebrating International Women’s Day. The CFUW holds special consultative status with the United Nations (ECOSOC) and belongs to the Education Committee of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO. CFUW regularly sends a delegation to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women and is the largest affiliate of Graduate Women International, which represents women worldwide.
